Govt: Cashless pay system is a gradual process

Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Eng. Michale Kamau says that no one will be prosecuted for failing to comply with cashless pay system in the public transport system.

Kamau says that the introduction of the cashless pay system is a gradual process that starts Tuesday and will be rolled out for a certain period of time before its full implementation.

Speaking to KBC on phone Tuesday morning, the Transport CS encouraged Kenyans to support the new traffic regulation saying that it will help investors as well as passengers save a lot of money.

He assured the public that the system is safe having been tested by various stakeholders.

The government had set for Tuesday July 1st as the deadline for all public transport operators to introduce cashless pay system.
