Sum maintains 800m lead in Switzerland

World 800 metres Champion Eunice Sum  maintained unbeaten run  this year after  posting another victory in the Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland Thursday night, clocking  a season’s best of  1 minute 58.48 seconds.

Russia’s Olympic bronze medallist Ekaterina Poistogova settled for the second spot in 1 minute 58.79 seconds while Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa finished third.

Ronald Kwemoi won the 1,500 metres race in a personal best of 3 minutes 31. 48 seconds.

Silas Kiplagat claimed second place ahead of his compatriot, James Kiplagat Magut who finished third.

Jairus Birech won 3000 metres steeplechase in a time of 8 minutes 3.34 seconds beating his compatriot Conseslus Kaput to the second spot.

Mercy Cherono  won the 3000 metres race in a time of 8 minutes and 50.24 seconds ahead of Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba who finished second.
