Deputy Governor Kinyua Mugo while receiving the supplies at Embu Level Five Hospital, announced that another consignment of drugs estimated at  Ksh20 million was due to arrive by Saturday.

He said they were also expecting an additional shipment worth Sh. 34 million next week which will go a long way in alleviating shortage of drugs in all the health facilities across the county.

The development comes as a relief to patients who have been complaining of lack of drugs in almost all the health facilities across the country.

The Deputy Governor assured residents that by the end of next week, all the facilities will have enough drugs to alleviate their suffering.

Going forward, Mugo promised that mechanisms will be put in place to ensure drugs and related commodities are procured on time to curb scarcity.

“It is our desire to replenish medical stocks on time to ensure patients are able to get proper healthcare all year round,” he said.

He attributed the shortages to procurement cycle that is beyond their control leading to delays in arrival of the supplies.
