Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has directed the Cord secretariat to meet the Nairobi County security committee as agreed with the Cord principals ahead of the Saba Saba rally on Monday.

Kimaiyo also urged the Cord principals to ensure they adhere to the obligations agreed upon including urging their supporters to keep the peace and avoid destruction of property nor disturbing the peace.

He reminded the public that Monday is a working day and no one should abscond duty.

The IG who was addressing a news conference in Nairobi, said the police are up to the task to maintain security on Monday, reminded the Cord supporters who will be attending the rally on Monday that they will be frisked and will only be allowed into Uhuru Park through designated entry points.

Kimaiyo said the police will neither allow any unauthorized rallies on Monday nor the ferrying of any persons with a view to causing mayhem at the rally.

He called on the public to maintain peace and harmony on and after the rally adding that investigations into the purchase of machetes in some parts of the country was under investigations but assured Kenyans of security and safety throughout the country.
