CORD coalition is Sunday expected to hold a rally in Machakos before the main Saba Saba rally at Uhuru Park on Monday.

At the Kenyatta stadium in Machakos town, it’s all systems go as final touches to the venue are done, including a heavy police presence expected to number in thousands.

A 5000 strong contingent of police will be manning the stadium for the rally slated for 2pm.

Local leaders have assured the public of a peaceful rally.

It is unclear whether Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua will attend the rally which will be held in his own backyard as he had earlier distanced himself from the cord rallies, citing better ways of engaging with the government.

The CORD coalition has held a series of nationwide rallies in the build up to the famed and much anticipated Saba Saba rally to be held in Nairobi with other rallies held simultaneously across the country.

The opposition coalition aims to compel the Jubilee administration into a national dialogue session.
