National Rugby 15s loses 10-27 to Zimbabwe

By Kennedy Langat

The national Rugby 15s dream of featuring in next year’s Rugby World Cup diminished Sunday when they went down 27-10 to Zimbabwe in their final round robin match of the Confederation of African Rugby Division 1A Championships  in Madagascar.

Zimbabwe  grounded three tries and two penalties while Kenya touched down once through veteran Humphrey Kayange with fly half Lavin Asego’s penalty earning their other points.

Kenya needed a draw to qualify for their maiden global showpiece after winning their first two matches, 29-22 against Namibia and drubbing the hosts 34-0.

The loss to the Sables means Kenya surrendered their continental title and will now have to follow on the longer route where they will face Russia on 2nd of next month.
