Kwale County plans to host an investment forum and cultural fare next month.

Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya says the forum aims at wooing investors to the county with a view to facilitating a rapid economic and social development.

The  county is placing emphasis on nine thematic areas of investment among them tourism, mining and infrastructure.

Kwale County is endowed with extractive resources like silica sand, and mineral deposits like iron ore, titanium, rare earths, gold as well as oil and gas whose exploration is already underway.

To speed up harnessing of these resources, the county government has organized a week-long investment forum that will start on 24th of next month.

Mvurya says the event will be key in connecting the county with potential investors and development partners both locally and globally to spur the region’s economic development.

He says the cultural fare will showcase the local culture and heritage aimed at helping build a brand that will represent the community and their lives.

Mvurya says the cost of doing business in Kwale county remains comparatively low compared to other parts of the country.
