Kenyan boxing team leaves for Glasgow

The Kenyan boxing team to this year’s commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland will leave the country Tuesday night ahead of the games slated to kick off on the 23rd of this month – 3rd August.

The Kenyan team comprises of 9 male boxers, and two female boxers.

Head coach Albert Matito will peg his hope on 2010 Silver medalist Benson Gicharu, Gold Medalist Nick Okoth, World international championships, champion Rayton Okwiri, Elizabeth Andiego and debutant Christine Wangari.

The first batch, comprising of the shooting and the seven’s team left the country on Sunday.

A total of 195 sports men and women will represent Kenya in different categories including Track and field events, Cycling, Wrestling among other events.

Kenya bagged a total of 32 Medals in New Delhi India, 12 Gold, 11 Silver and 9 Bronze.
