Six trade unions which are members of the Central organization of trade unions (COTU) have opposed the planned restructuring and rationalization in the public service.

The unions argue that the programme as announced by Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru may be a calculated move to retrench workers.

Addressing the press in Nairobi Wednesday morning, The Secretary Generals of the six unions led by Ernest Nadome of Kenya Electrical and Applied Workers Union and Wafula wa Musamia of the Quarry union demanded dialogue with government on the matter before its implementation.

They argue that labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi has not convened any tripartite meeting since assuming office saying it is improper.
