Animal feeds stolen along Nairobi-Naivasha highway



Drama unfolded along the Nairobi-Naivasha highway as residents of Karai engaged in a looting spree.

Trouble started after a lorry belonging to Pembe Flour Mills Company was involved in an accident at the notorious Karai black spot paralyzing transport.

The driver of the lorry is said to have lost control of the vehicle when descending downhill, hit an electric pole before overturning.

Looters carted away animal feeds worth thousands of shillings.

The looters had thought the lorry was ferrying food for human consumption only to realize their loot was chicken feeds.

It took police close to two hours to restore sanity with motorists being stranded as residents crossed the road carelessly to transport the loot.

The area is prone to accidents and experienced a catastrophe two years ago when close to 50 people were burnt to death.
