Artist Talk Back Volume one hosted by Anyiko PR slated for Thursday is set to tackle the issue of Kenyans playing and supporting local content
There has been a lot of discussion around the topic of Play Kenyan Music with demands to media stations and deejays to play more Kenyan music both from the fans and musicians. This week, Anyiko PR which mostly handles clients within the entertainment industry will host their first event dubbed Artist Talk Back, Vol. 1 on Thursday 7th February 2019 at the Michael Joseph Centre from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The event will present a panel discussion session on the topic Play Kenyan Music that will feature one of Kenya’s most sought after femcees, Fena Gitu, known for her feel-good anthems and incredible brand endorsements, and Corine Onyango, a seasoned Kenyan radio presenter currently at Homeboyz Radio. Corine is best known for actively promoting Kenyan hip-hop music on the airwaves through her show The Jumpoff. The panel will also include Duncan Musicha popularly known as the Super Producer, and Kenyan born DJ based in the US, Fully Focus, who has played in five continents during his fifteen-year-long tenure in the music industry. Focus is also the creator of Atlanta’s Passport Experience (PXP Fest).
Ezegozie Eze, the General Manager of Universal Music Nigeria, will also be a special guest at the event. He will share his insights on how Nigerian music broke through the world stage and how the rest of the key markets can follow suit. The event will be moderated by the founder of Anyiko PR—one of the leading Publicists in Africa, Anyiko Owoko, listed as one of Africa’s 100 Most Influential Women in Africa in 2018.
Ahead of the Artist Talk Back Vol. 1 event, Anyiko said, “It’s great that the whole country and Africa is now talking about Kenyans playing and supporting more of our own content. From media, finance, record labels, artist management, PR / A&R; Artist Talk Back Vol 1 is set to attract all types of artists, key stakeholders and industry players in Kenya’s music industry. As we delve into non-traditional ways of marketing and promotion for musicians, we hope the session provides more insight into how Kenya’s industry can be on par with its counterparts.
