KRA deploys 2,000 police officers to curb fuel adulteration

The Kenya Revenue Authority has deployed 2,000 police officers in the Northern Corridor to curb the rampant fuel diversion, dumping and adulteration.

KRA North Rift Regional Coordinator Florence Otory says this will ensure that perpetrators are apprehended and charged with fuel diversion or adulteration offences.

The authority has also upgraded the Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System that is currently operational in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya.

The upgrade came following a directive from the heads of state summit held in Kigali Rwanda.

Petroleum dealers have also demanded that stringent laws and punitive fines be put in place to curb the menace of fuel adulteration and tax evasion by unscrupulous dealers as well as strict border monitoring.

Otory however asked Kenyans to remain vigilant and weary of cheap fuel and fuel products.
