CORD challenges govt to arrest leaders behind violence
By Simon Achola
The Coalition for reforms and Democracy CORD has challenged the government to go ahead and arrest leaders believed to be behind a spate violence that has hit the coastal towns.
This comes after the Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa blamed unnamed leaders allied to the coalition for fanning violence at the coast.
Senator Johnston Muthama and his colleague James Orengo said blaming the coalition for the security mess in the country was a clear indication the government was not in charge.
The Cord leaders said if indeed the government had credible evidence to link the unnamed leaders to crime it should go ahead and arrest them to ensure security prevails.
They said the move by Marwa to link the coalition leaders to crime was missing the point.
Meanwhile, a blogger accused of fanning hate speech on social media has been charged and remanded at the Industrial Area Prison after he failed to pay a 5 million shillings bond or a 2 million shillings cash bail to secure his release.
Seth Odongo who operates a Facebook account under the pseudonym, Disembe Dikembe, was arrested for having updated remarks believed to propagate hate against a certain community.
