Patients at the Machakos Level 5 hospital can now breathe a sigh of relief after Machakos Government obtained a court order stopping the doctors’ strike.
Medics in the county had downed their tools on Tuesday last week protesting poor working conditions and interference from the county government.
The 9 day strike had paralyzed all operations at the level 5 hospital causing panic among patients.
Having denied the presence of a strike on the one hand, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on the other hand avowed that he will not be ‘arm twisted’ by the striking doctors.
Earlier efforts by Governor Mutua to mediate over the impasse failed after the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union officials failed to attend the final talks citing a lack of confidence in the County Executive’s overtures.
