The Teachers Service Commission has put on hold interviews for teachers which were set to be conducted from Monday next week due to logistical and technical hitches.

A statement from the Teachers Service Commission signed by the Commission’s Head of Communications Kihumba Kamotho says all the 20,057 teachers who had applied for positions in Job Groups K, M and N, will be informed of the next course of action as soon as the matter is sorted out.

The positions were advertised in September last year.

The suspension of the interview comes a few days after the Teachers Service Commission issued a circular on new rules that among other issues, require teachers to have written permission to be absent from school.

It further allows teachers to only attend conferences during weekends to keep them in class in order to improve performance.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has also pushed non-academic activities to weekends and holidays to ensure curriculum completion and implementation.

This has however met resistance from teachers.
