Justice David Majanja has ruled that Machakos County governor Dr. Alfred Mutua was duly elected during the March 4 elections.

Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti had petitioned Mutua’s election claiming that the elections were marred with irregularities.

Justice Majanja  in his ruling Monday morning dismissed the petition saying that there was no sufficient evidence shown by the petitioner that there were irregularities and that Mutua was involved in voter bribery among other electoral malpractices.

Majajnja also ordered Wavinya to pay the first, second and third respondents Sh2 million and fourth and fifth respondents Sh2.5 million.

Dr. Mutua had garnered 257,607 votes while Wavinya had 92,644 votes during the March 4 elections.
