Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi has made administrative changes within the ministry in what he says is aimed at enhancing leadership at all levels of governance.
The changes that affect 50 senior officers are meant to align the Government administration with the new police command structure that saw Regular and Administration police merged.
Among the changes include the naming of William Kang’ethe as the Principal Administrative Secretary in the Interior docket while Wycliffe Ogallo is the new Secretary National Administration and Moffat Kangi, the new Secretary Internal Security.
Outgoing Nairobi County Commissioner Peter Thuku is named the Secretary in charge of peace-building, conflict management and disaster response with Flora Mworoa taking his place and former North Eastern Regional Commissioner Mohamed Saleh becomes the Liaison Secretary.
Other changes include Wilson Nyagwanga, named as Central Regional Commissioner; James Kianda goes to Nyanza replacing Wilson Njega who moves to Nairobi, Muranga County Commissioner John Elungata becomes the new Coast Regional Commissioner while Isaiah Nakoru who has been Nyamira County Commissioner is the Eastern Regional Commissioner.
Mongo Chimwaga of Rift Valley, Mohamed Birik of North Eastern and Anne Ngetich of Western have been retained.
Several other County Commissioners were also named in the new changes.
