Elders fault CORD over planned rallies
Religious leaders in Kisii and Nyamira counties have called for the cancellation of the planned CORD political rallies, warning they were likely to plunge the country into another wave of violence.
Addressing the press the clerics argued that poverty and insecurity among other issues could be tackled amicably within the constitutional framework, instead of perpetually subjecting the country to political blackmail and a permanent election campaign mood.
The clerics are urging CORD legislators to work with the national government, to resolve the issues surrounding the national dialogue.
The clerics said they were impartial over the issue, but warned political leaders of their utterances in public stressing the need for peaceful co- existence.
The controversial Saba-Saba rally is planned for the 7th of this month.
