Matiang’i declares Tuesday 28th a public holiday

Tuesday 28th November will be a Public holiday to pave way for the swearing in of President-elect H.E Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a gazette notice number 11491 dated 23rd November 2017, acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i declared the day a public holiday even as preparations for the inauguration of President Uhuru progresses.

The military has taken over Kasarani sport centre with preparations in top gear for the event.

The Assumption Office of the President Committee expecting over 100,000 guests to attend the event, with Government Spokesperson Eric Kiraithe saying 20 Heads of State have confirmed attendance.

Workers under the Assumption Office of the President Committee are busy finalizing the dais, as branding of the venue and other works continue in earnest.

And as is the norm with the Kenya Defense Forces, there is strict inspection on all details with Chief of Defense forces at hand ensure all is well.

President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto will be sworn in for Uhuru’s last term in office, with the event expected to start at 10 o’clock.
