Reigning Africa Cross country champion Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon produced an outstanding performance to bag gold in the women’s 1500m finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Kenyan squad led by  Hellen Obiri , Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon and   Selah Busienei  were tipped favorites to go for a clean sweep despite the race having a strong field.

Laura Weightman from England took silver while Canada’s Kate Van Buskirk finished in the Bronze position.

Obiri finished in a disappointing 6th position.

The third Kenyan in the 1500m finals Sella Busienei finished last clocking 4 minutes 17.88 seconds.
