Football Kenya Federation will front a bid to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after the country successfully hosted the 2013 edition of the CECAFA Senior challenge Cup.
The Federation’s chairman Sam Nyamweya said that Kenya is the first country in this region to host the Senior Challenge in four different towns namely Machakos, Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru.
He added that before hosting the big event, Kenya will also place a bid for the continental Under-17 championships. He however acknowledged that the federation as the hosts of CECAFA underwent torrid times.
The challenges included embarrassing scenes where teams and referees were repeatedly held up in hotels over unpaid bills.
The Sudanese team was locked up in a hotel for unpaid bills ahead of the final match against Kenya forcing organizers to reschedule the match that kicked off two hours late.
