Four policemen among those killed in Lamu attack

Seven people including four police officers were Friday night killed after gunmen hijacked a bus in Witu area of Lamu County.

The gang is said to have ambushed police officers who had responded to a distress call after the gang waylaid a bus christened Taheemed which was heading to Lamu from Mombasa.

According to the victims of the attack the gang opened fire on the bus in an attempt to take control of it. Three other victims are said to be in critical continue in the medical facility.

The attack comes barely weeks after similar incidents were witnessed in  Gamba, Hindi and Mpeketoni areas of Lamu county.

The Kenya Defense Force has joined other security agencies in combing Boni forest believed to be a safe haven of the killer gang that has caused fear and panic in the vast northern coastal region.
