Government online services disrupted

Government online services were Friday severely interrupted following a major breakdown of internet services.
ICT Authority Chief Executive Victor Kyalo blamed a routing of government owned internet protocol to a new platform.
However, normalcy was restored later in the day. The most affected services were Huduma centers and immigration department services.
According to the Information and Communication Authority, the disruptions were caused by rerouting of government internet protocol address to a new system which the ICT ministry is rolling out .
Kyalo says the problem started at 7 Friday morning which took engineers from the Authority close to ten hours to rectify.
The government is currently upgrading its IT services with the aim of loading more services to the internet for easier and faster access.
The rerouting of government IP platform is expected to continue causing service disruption but Kyalo says engineers from the ministry are working to minimize disruptions.
