Kakamega man kills self after stabbing wife to death

A 45-year-old man from Emukaba village in Kakamega County has killed his wife of 37 years by stabbing her to death then later killed himself by ingesting poison the following day.

Their fellow villagers’ say that the deceased was the man’s fourth wife and the fatal incident happened after another incident when his wife failed to serve his children some food and was beaten up only for the neighbors to rescue her in her home.

According to their neighbours they saw the man named William Uningu Shivoko wake up very early in the morning to wash his wife’s body then proceed to watch a bullfight.

He later then went back home and took poison to kill himself.

Elsewhere, a somber mood has engulfed Bulwani village in Butula Sub County, after officials from a local Savings and Cooperative Society allegedly beat and killed one of their clients for failing to pay a Ksh 9,000 debt.

Family members claim officials from the FSA SACCO accompanied by police officers from Butula and hired goons also took away cows and their calves from the deceased home.

Residents Bulwani village in Butula, Busia County led by Simon Nyongesa faulted the police for failing to provide security during the incident.

They said the two parties would have agreed on how to clear the debt instead of killing the defaulter.

Meanwhile, residents are demanding that the Sacco should suspend its activities in the area until investigations into the incident are complete.
