KBC Channel One

In 1962, Television was introduced in Kenya. The first transmitting station was set up on a farm house in Limuru. It transmitted a radiusof 15 miles only.

The station has now evolved to channel one. It has warmed Kenyan hearts through the years with local productions such as Joy Bringers,Burden of Proof,Tahamaki, Tausi and Vituko, amongst others .

The station is the home of drama, airing both local and international programmes like Vioja Mahakamani, Vitimbi and House of Payne. The station strongly believes in patriotism. Channel One transmits ‘live’ national holidays, government events, parliamentary proceedings and international events, highlighting Kenyans.

It is also the home of sports. Channel One has consistently aired all major sporting activities including the Olympics, World Cup matches and the Commonwealth Games. The station honours family values and provides wholesome entertainment. Channel One, your station of choice.

Dunda Kikwetu is a Musical show that features indigenous secular music by local artistes within Kenya and the diaspora.

Starring renowned Kenyan actors Mzee Ojwang, Mama Kayai,Mogaka and a host of other comedians join us every Sunday 5:30PM for laughter galore.

Juma, was born in Kenya’s second largest city of Mombasa Island and was brought up in Nairobi where he went to school.

He presents Damka and Dunia Wiki Hii

His favorite saying is “Mola si Adhumani” meaning God is unlike human beings, he doesn’t discriminate. He loves playing soccer, Computer Scrabble and listening to music.

Irene Muchuma-Odim-She is a broadcast journalist by profession who has become a household face through her professional and good natured approach to her job as a TV presenter cum reporter at KBC.Irene also produces the wekly famous feature THE MAGICAL SCENES which soughts to educate,entertain and inform viewers on Kenya’s scenic beauty.Irene also specializes in Human interest stories ranging from environment to politics.In the previous years the award winning journalist pioneered the only environmental talk show in the country THE ECO SHOW and a unique weekly news feature segment KNOW YOUR CITY which sought to inform the public on the Capitals untold stories
