Kenya and Angola to strengthen bilateral ties


Kenya and Angola have agreed to strengthen bilateral ties for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Speaking Thursday when they met in Nairobi at the end of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) special summit, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Angolan External Relations Minister Georges Rebelo Chicoti emphasized the need for the two countries to enhance relations.

The Foreign Minister – who is visiting Kenya for the first time – delivered a special message to President Kenyatta from President José Eduardo dos Santos of Angola.

President Kenyatta and Mr. Chicoti also discussed other issues of regional importance including peace and security in the Great Lakes Region.

They affirmed the two countries’ commitment to promotion of the youth agenda.

Later, President Kenyatta held talks with Sudan’s Vice-President Hassabo Mohammed Abdulrahman.

The President and the Sudanese Vice-President discussed peace and security in the Horn of Africa region. They agreed that Kenya and Sudan should cooperate to restore peace in Somalia.
