Kenya bags third medal in 10,000m in Morocco

Kenya bagged her third Gold medal in the ongoing Africa senior Athletics championships in Marrakech, Morocco when Commonwealth champion Joyce Chepkirui led her compatriots in sweeping podium positions in 10,000 metres race. 

Two-time world cross-country champion Emily Chebet finished second ahead of third placed Belaynesh Oljira of Ethiopia.

Meanwhile world 800 metres champion Eunice Sum was a comfortable winner of her heat, clocking 2 minutes 02.43 seconds.

Kenyan team-mate Agatha Jeruto also impressed, setting a Personal Best of 1 minute 59.88 seconds to win her heat, while the other heat was won by Ethiopian teenager Tigist Assefa.

World champion Asbel Kiprop won his 1500 metres heat in 3 minutes 43.87 seconds ahead of world junior record-holder Ronald Kwemoi and world indoor champion Ayanleh Souleiman from Djibouti.
