Kenya Golf Union announces new chairman

Sigona Golf Club’s Peter Ngundo Warui is the new boss of Kenya Golf Union for the year 2014/15.

He was elected during the Kenya Golf Union Annual General Meeting held on Friday at Muthaiga Golf Club, Nairobi.

Mr. Warui took over from Mr. Francis Okwara, who will continue sitting in the KGU board as the immediate Past Chairman.

The new KGU Chairman joined the Kenya Golf Union in the year 2011 as the Hon Secretary where he served for two years till 2013 when he was elected as the Vice Chairman.

In his maiden Speech the new KGU Chairman thanked all the golfers for exuding confidence in him and promised to dedicate his services to the Union at his best.

He promised to put more synergy on Junior Golf development as well as searching and developing golfing talents across the country.

The Chairman also promised to call a consultative forum of golf stakeholders where the Union will draw up a KGU Strategic Plan which will guide the growth of the game in the next five years.

During the same meeting Mr. Anthony Muhoro (Railway) was elected as the Vice Chairman while Muthaiga’s Richard Wanjalla was re-elected as the Hon. Treasurer. Stephen Muchau Githiaka(Vet Lab) was elected as the new KGU Hon. Secretary.

Other Executives that were elected includes; Dr. Paul Rwambo (Kiambu), Eng. Kenneth Chege (Thika), Lucas Marang’a (Limuru), Erick Kimani (Windsor), Anthony Murage (Karen) and Ben Omuodo from Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

All of them were elected unopposed.
