I caught up with Abby and asked her about the five most memorable dishes or drinks she has had over the past five days. Here are her top five in no particular order.

Creamy Mushroom Veloute

  1. Creamy Mushroom Veloute – Soup

Where: Tune Hotel

What she had to say: I had some surprisingly nice and creamy soup paired with bread. A creamy mushroom soup. It was thin for soup but tasty.

blue mount

  1. Blue Mount – Drink

Where: Nyama Mama, Delta Towers

What she had to say: The Blue Mount is for those who want a zing in their drink. It has a sweet undertaste. It’s the way to go. It isn’t too sharp and it isn’t too much like juice. And they have Happy Hour for it too.

Plantains

  1. Plantains – Food

Where: Nyama Mama, Delta Towers

What she had to say: I’ve never gone to Nyama Mama and not had the plantains. They are the best accompaniment to anything.

Spinach-and-cheese-samosa

  1. Feta Cheese Coriander Samosa – Snack

Where: Talisman

What she had to say: The feta, cheese, coriander samosas at Talisman, Weh! I’ve never tasted anything like it in Nairobi. You would think that because they’re vegetarian, they won’t be as tasty. Those samosas made me so thankful for cows.

Strawbeey Waffle

  1. Waffles – Breakfast

Where: Connect Coffee

What she had to say: Connect Coffee has such tasty, tasty waffles. You can’t finish one by yourself. It comes loaded with strawberries or grapes and ice cream. It’s soft and crusty in all the right places. They’re yummy!
