Thugs attack former MP, wife at their Runda home

Former Lari legislator, Mburu Kahangara and his wife Monica Mburu escaped death narrowly after armed gangsters raided their Runda home in Kiambu in the wee hours of Friday night.

The couple had just gotten home from a funeral committee in Murang’a when the five men who had gained entry into the compound through the backyard accosted them.

The gangsters demanded that they open the main house which they ransacked  for more than two hours, terrorizing the couple.

The thugs took away the former legislator’s firearm as well as house valuables, cash and their mobile phones.

His wife suffered eye bruises after she shielded her husband from being stabbed by one of the thugs.

Officers from the Kiambu police station and KK security guards later arrived at the home after the couple raised a distress call.

Elsewhere, five suspected gangsters and an unidentified man have been shot dead in Kangundo Machakos County.

The criminals who were armed were killed by police officers from the flying squad following a heavy exchange of fire.

Kathiani police boss Lazarus Taurus confirmed that two gangsters were shot dead by the officers at Mukukuni while three others were felled at Kathaana in Kathiani and Kangundo sub-counties respectively.

Police recovered a pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition, a laptop, several phones among other gadgets

Taurus urged residents and police officers to be vigilant especially during this festive season.
