Machakos deputy governor impeached

Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Muia Kiala has been impeached by the County Assembly of Machakos with a two third majority vote of 40 votes out of 59.

A total of 59 members of the county assembly participated in a roll call voting with 19 voting to oppose.

Songs and dance followed with the winners celebrate victory as police ensured maximum security around and in all streets of Machakos town.

AD-HOC committee on impeachment of the deputy governor which comprised of 11 member, chaired by Matungulu East ward MCA Wilson Kasimu had tabled a report before the house and was adopted by members.

The committee concluded that in pursuant with section 33 of the County Government Act 2012 that Kiala had violated various provisions of the constitution, gross misconduct and abuse of office.

“Mr Speaker Sir, the committee recommends that this honorable house approves and adopts the report on impeachment of the deputy governor.”said Wilson Kasimu
