Man chops wife’s hands after failing to bear children

Residents of a village in Homabay County are seeking answers following the shocking attack on a 22 year-old woman by her husband. 

Beryl Odhiambo from Kamreri Village in Suba North Sub County is nursing serious injuries after her husband chopped off her hand accusing her of failing to bear him children.

Married at 16, Beryl Odhiambo has been married to the love of her life for the last 6 years.

Her husband whom she accuses of abusing her in the course of their marriage she says returned home with his mind made up, spoiling for a fight.

The fight degenerated so quickly, the love of her life chopping off her hand accusing her of refusing to bear him children.

Police are yet to arrest the husband even as Suba North Mp Millie Odhiambo accused police of laxity.

Odhiambo called on members of the public to approach reproductive issues with caution and seek help instead of turning on each other in the event of childlessness.

Sadly, Berly Odhiambo’s case only adds up to the statistics of growing incidents of domestic violence in Ndhiwa, Lambwe and Suba sub counties of Homabay county.
