MPs to control CDF kitty

Mandera South constituency takes the lions share with an allocation of 182.9M

Members of Parliament will be controlling a total of 32.97B allocated to Constituency Development Fund for the 2014/2015 fiscal year.

The CDF board secretariat takes 5% of the total amount, while rehabilitation of schools has been allocated 0.243B an equivalent of Kshs 837,931 for every constituency.

The distribution of the 32.97B development kitty to be shared amongst the 290 constituencies for the 2014-2015 fiscal year has been tabled in parliament by the ministry of devolution and planning.

Allocation of the development kitty was arrived at after analysis of the constituency population, estimated number of poor people, poverty headcount, and contribution to national poverty percentage amongst others.

Mandera South constituency takes the lions share with an allocation of 182.9M, followed by Turkana West with an allocation of 169.8M, Magarini 149M, Mandera North   148.4M and Mandera West 144.3M.

Lamu East however is the least beneficiary with an allocation of 85.2M, followed by Embakasi West with 86.6M, Makadara 87.5M and Kisumu central 89.7M.

A standing emergency allocation of 5% of the gross CDF kitty equivalent to 5.4M per constituency has also been set aside.
