Nyayo Stadium to host Gor Mahia v AFC Leopards’ derby

Defending champions Gor Mahia will head into Sunday’s cracker against AFC Leopards at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table but maximum points against their archrivals will most certainly be their top most priority.

Kogalo lead the table on 37 points from 18 matches. Gor Mahia are three points ahead of Tusker FC who beat bottom side KCB 2-0 on Wednesday.

Sofapaka failed to collect maximum points against Chemelil Sugar, who have been causing all sorts of problems for the leagues big guns, and their 1-1 draw leaves the 2009 champions in third positions on 30 points, same as KRA.

Chemelil Sugar are 5th on the table on 29 points, thanks to the one point collected yesterday, while Sony Sugar sneak in 6th position on 27 points, just one point above Ulinzi Stars who fought too hard to down Mathare United 2-0 Wednesday evening.

Three points separate Ulinzi Stars and Thika United who are 8th with 23 points, same as Mathare United who would have gone up were it not for the loss on Wednesday.

AFC Leopards recorded their 5th win of the season when they beat City Stars 2-0 on Wednesday, and move to 10th heading into their crunch match with Gor Mahia this weekend.

Top Fry and KCB are still struggling in the relegation zone with 12 and 9 points respectively while City Stars just sit above them on 17 points.
