Obado reinstated as Migori governor

The court said irregularities during the March 4, 2013 poll were not substantial

The Supreme Court has reinstated Okoth Obado as Migori Governor

Obado has been serving as governor pending the determination of the case by way of notice from the registrar of the Supreme Court.

The judges unanimously annulled the Court of Appeal verdict that quashed Obados election. They said the Court of Appeal exceeded its jurisdiction by considering new evidence adding that said irregularities during the March 4, 2013 poll were not substantial.

Obado win was nullified in March by Court of Appeal sitting in Kisumu. The court said massive irregularities attributed to human error by IEBC was no excuse to warrant Obado being declared the winner.

The governor then lodged an appeal at the Supreme Court in Nairobi in April. The Court granted him to remain in office
