Obuya Academy participate in 1st ever league match

The Obuya Cricket Academy, Sunday played their first ever competitive match since its formation 10 years ago when they faced Stray Lions in a Division 2, Nairobi Province Association League tie at Aga Khan Sports Club, Nairobi.

Obuya Cricket Academy formed 10 years ago with a sole role of giving talented but poor kids a chance to play cricket came up against a formidable opposition in the form of Stray Lions, which consisted of former National Team Captain Jimmy Kamnde, in its first ever League tie.

The Obuya side despite putting up a charged play and relying on relatively younger bowlers lost the tie by 3 wickets.

Academy Director Kennedy Obuya however promised that the side will bounce back in its next match at Jaffereys Academy.

The Nairobi Province Association Division two league has a total of 10 teams.

Elsewhere last years Kenya Basketball Federation Womens league runners.

USIU continued with their good start to this year’s campaign beating their sworn rivals Eagle Wings 57-51 points.

USIU Led all 3 0f the 4 quarters 11-09,16-04,16-10 before drawing the last one 16-16.

In other matches Coopertative Bank slumped to a 36-43 defeat at the hands of Strathmore University while  in the sole Mens premier league match on card USIU walloped Menonites 82-40.

The league continues next weekend.
