More than 2,800 amateur golfers are expected to participate in the 2014-2015 Barclays golf circuit series which tees off on the 16th of next month at the Nakuru Golf club.

The event was launched Friday at Nairobi Royal golf club in Nairobi.

A total of 35 clubs have already confirmed participation in the series that will be held across the country over a 7 month period and 20 winners will book their places to play in the Barclays Kenya Open PRO AM set for next year.

Professional golfers will be hosted to two legs of four days in preparation for the Barclays Kenya Open to be played at the Karen Golf club.

This year’s series will be played in 14 golf clubs including Machakos, Nyanza and Nyali.

The event is open to CONGU handicaps and junior golfers aged between 13 to 18 years. Last year’s champion Dalveer Hunjan was awarded an all expenses paid trip to attend the Springboks golf day in South Africa.
