The ministry of ICT is calling for a policy intervention to accelerate and scale up the growth of technology and innovation in the country.
ICT Principal Secretary victor Kyalo cites Kenya is scaling up ICT innovations by identifying innovators, financiers, and researchers to accelerate inclusive development and economic growth.
A paradigm shift is underway in country where new innovations are destroying old ways of doing business hence the need for development of digital skills to accelerate industrialization and drive economic growth.
Experts say Kenya is in a better position to leverage innovation to solve the current unemployment problem.
They say there exists gaps in Kenya’s development, particularly in key areas such as finance and telecommunications and can be explored through use digital technologies.
They noted that the government is not doing little to improve infrastructure to train the work force, modernize regulation and ensure inclusive growth to create a better business climate and boost trade.
