Ringui knocked out of Table tennis event

Kenya’s Antony Mathenge Ringui was knocked out of the Commonwealth games at the first hurdle after losing his preliminary, Table tennis match to New Zealand’s Philip Xiao.

The 43 year old Kenyan playing in his 3rd commonwealth games put up a spirited fight but was overpowered by his opponent aged 23 and  ranked 3rd globally in three straights to 0 of 11-7,11-3 and 11-7.

Elsewhere, Kenyan representatives in the Men’s Triathlon event could not put up with the stiff competition exhibited in the race with the duo of AbdelNasser Balala and Vincent Onyango withdrawing midway the race.

Onyango was lapped and was subsequently pulled from the competition during the 1.5km swimming stage while Balala withdrew midway.
