Safaricom security tender finally approved
By Simon Achola
The Public Procurement Oversight Authority has approved the controversial Safaricom tender saying it is above board.
Jane Wangare a senior officer in the authority says due process was followed and Kenyans will get value for money.
Addressing parliaments national administration security committee, Wangare said the government did not breach any procurement law since there is provision in the law for direct nomination.
However MP Ababu Namwamba questioned the hasty decision to settle on Safaricom expressing fear that the top officials in the security organ stand to benefit from the deal. The committee adjourned its sittings and will meet next Monday.
