Stop blame game over insecurity, Sonko tells leader

By Rufus Hunja

Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, has urged leaders to stop blaming security heads for the rising cases of insecurity in the country.

He said calls for the resignation of Internal Security Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Ole Lenku were ill timed, adding that security is a collective responsibility and  Kenyans should be vigilant at all  times.

Speaking in Bomu hospital when he visited a four year old boy whose leg was amputated after a gun attack in Mombasa last week, the Nairobi Senator called on the opposition to suspend rallies across the country and support the government in the fight against insecurity.

He however said police must bring to book those behind the recent attacks in Lamu, terming the killings as unfortunate.

Sonko called on the residents with information to assist the police to apprehend those behind the attacks.

His calls come in the wake of a military operation to flush out suspected militia from Boni Forest where they are believed to be hiding.
