The Kenya national Roll Ball teams that took part in the fourth edition of the Eastern Africa championship in Tanzania are expected to return home Tuesday.
The Kenya men and women teams successfully retained the titles which they won last year in Nairobi.
Led by Captain Moses Akenya, the Kenya men’s roll ball team beat hosts Tanzania 5-2 in the final while the ladies team hammered Tanzania 7-0 to retain their respective titles.
Rwanda and Uganda pulled out of the tournament. Kenya has now won the title four times in a row.
Kenya finished third in the Roll Ball World Cup that was held in February in Dakar Bangladesh.
Attention now shifts to the World Gold Cup that will be held from 21st-26th December in India.
This will be the last international championship this year before the teams feature in the African championship set for next year in Rwanda.
Meanwhile, the sixth edition of the Kenya Inter County games kicked off Monday at Machakos County stadium after an official opening ceremony by Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua.
This year’s games have attracted participation from 43 countries from the country that will feature in over 15 different sporting activities including football, basketball, volleyball and hockey among others.
The long week tournament will end this Saturday. The previous edition was held in Kiambu County where Nairobi County was crowned overall champions.
Kisumu and Kiambu Counties finished in second and third positions respectively. The games are aimed at promoting cohesion and peace amongst members of county assemblies and the executive.
