Pipeline starts training ahead of Africa championships



Reigning national women’s volleyball champions Kenya Pipeline will go into residential training at the Kasarani Indoor Arena on 29th of this month ahead of the Africa club championship slated for 5th-15th of March in Cairo, Egypt. 

Kenya will be represented by two teams Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Prisons in the continental showpiece.

Kenya’s Powerhouse got the nod to represent Kenya in the Africa club championship after seeing off perennial rivals Kenya Prisons in the national playoffs held in November last year at the Makande gymnasium.

The eight time African champions resumed training on 3rd of this month at the Kenya Pipeline outdoor court.

Veteran Setter Janet Wanja is expected to link up with team next week.  Head coach Japheth Munala revealed that they are targeting four new players among them former Soweto Academy player Jemima Magereza.

Kenya Pipeline finished fifth overall last year in Tunis, Tunisia as hosts Carthage bagged the African accolade after seeing off El Shams of Egypt in the finals.

The men’s edition of the Africa volleyball club championship will be held in Cairo, Egypt on 25th March- 6th April where Kenya will be represented by national champions GSU and Kenya Prisons.
