Stars coach, Gateri link up with team in Maseru

Harambee Stars coach Aldel Amrouche and South African-based David Gateri have linked up with team in Maseru, Lesotho ready for Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against hosts.

Amrouche who is on a two game suspension was not part of the travelling team yesterday while Football Kenya Federation Technical Director Jacob Mulee and Amrouche’s three assistants accompanied the team.

The team left minus Belgium-based midfielder Ayub Timbe and Johanna Omollo.

The Genk midfielder had earlier been doubtful for the match as his club was reluctant to let him go.

Kenyan head of delegation Elly Mukolwe said they are confident of doing well even without some key players in the team.

The winner of the two-legged encounter will join Group ‘C’ which has Burkina Faso, Angola and Gabon in the final phase of qualifiers.

Stars drew 0-0 with Burundi in their only warm up match against Burundi earlier this week.
