Referendum:Civic education kicks off

Civic Education to sensisize Kenyans on the proposed new constitution kicked off Monday with the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission,CKRC, asking politicians to let Kenyans go through the document independently. Speaking during the launch, CKRC Chairperson Abida Ali Aroni said the process will be carried out independent of the ongoing political campaigns. Aroni asked civic education providers to be non-partisan and urged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers. Under the Programme , the process will be unveiled at various provincial headquarters in the next few days. She said the main objective of the education was to equip Kenyans with knowledge and skills on the contents of the draft constitution to enable them make informed choices. The Commission is expected to conduct the education throughout the country till November 18th ahead of the November 21st national referendum.
