The government intends to have major stadiums in the country refurbished in order to host African nations on transit to the 2010 world cup in South Africa.
Sports minister Maina Kamanda said they are targeting hosting nations from across the continent to train in the country.
He was speaking at Nakuru where he disclosed that the International Athletics Federation IAAF has donated 4.5 million shillings for the Nakuru Afraha Stadium to be upgraded into International standards.
He said they would sill require a further 35 million shillings for the stadium to attain international standards.
