Three time world cross country champion Edith Masai has switched to marathon and is now eyeing a top place in this year's world championships in Osaka Japan.

Masai who will compete alongside her prisons counterpart Catherine Ndereba revealed this at Mukuru Kayamba school in South B where the Kenya prisons sports council led by chairman Daniel Mutua donated foodstuff.

Masai and Ndereba also confirmed their participation in this weekends prisons athletics championships at Kasarani in preparation for the world championships.

The three day event received a major boost from corporate companies among them Safaricom, general motors and Nairobi sports house.

Meanwhile visually impaired athlete Henry Wanyoike was also giving back to the community in Machakos.

The former 5000m and 10,000m champion donated 460,000 Kenya shillings to his former school, the Machakos Institute for the blind for their borehole project, which will cost around 1.2 million shillings.

The proceeds were from his takings in the recent marathon he won in the UK.
