A day after the National Muslim Leaders Forum (NAMLEF) made public the memorandum of understanding signed between them and ODM presidential candidate Raila Odinga, church leaders are now raising concern saying the MOU is questionable.
Over 60 church leaders from the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya on Wednesday condemned the MOU saying it was different from the one released three months ago.
They said the document released on Tuesday was doctored and therefore the section touching Muslims was not true.
Addressing the press, the leaders led by their Secretary General Rev. Wellington Mutiso rejected the MOU saying there is a constitution that covers every citizen and only needs to be strengthened.
They described the MOU as one-sided aimed at dividing Kenyans and questioned why it took so long to make it public.
Three months after Raila and a section of Muslims signed the MOU that was heavily criticized by the public, on Tuesday they released the MOU in which Raila has promised among other things to deliver a constitution to Kenyans within 6 months.
In the MOU the Muslims promise to support Raila's bid for the presidency exclusively and continue supporting him should he be elected president.
On his part, Raila promises to give jobs to Muslims in the government, set up a commission to inquire into the extradition of Kenyans to Somalia, Ethiopia and Cuba and allocate funds to Coast and North Eastern provinces within two years should ODM win the election.
