Kenya Broadcasting Corporation -KBC- has finally acquired rights to broadcast live African Cup of Nations matches starting Monday evening with the first match on the card pitting Nigeria against Ivory Coast.

The KBC Managing Director David Waweru said Kenyans will have the pleasure of spectating their teams and players of choice.

" It has been a very hectic time in ensuring that we broadcast the matches. The rights were very expensive, but we had to fulfil our viewers' demands," said Waweru.

Waweru said although it cost KBC more than 495,000 euros ( sh 49.5 million) to buy the rights, he was pleased that they have given kenyans a reason to smile.

" It was worthwhile beacuse that's what many local soccer fans have been demanding."

The second match will be between Namibia and Morocco.

Meanwhile, The Black stars of Ghana began their Africa nations cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Guinea on Sunday.

The Black Stars got their first goal through Asamoah Gyan in the 54th minute through a penalty following a foul from Oumar Kalabane.

Kalabane mended his mistake by leveling the score for Guinea ten minutes later.

In the dying minutes of the match striker Sulley Muntari rifled a 25-yard shot into the top corner giving the hosts a winning wonder goal.

The Ghanaian fans stormed the Streets of ACCRA Celebrating the Black Stars Victory. Captain of the Ghanaian team and their coach were in a jubilant mood after the victory.

And on Monday tournament favouristes Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria by a solitary goal from Chelsea's Solomon Kalou.

In the other match Morocco crushed Namibia 5-1.

In the matches on card on Tuesday, defending champions Egypt take on Cameroon while Sudan will take on Zambia in-group C.
