The police headquarters' has issued a statement to clarify on the fate of the police officer who allegedly shot dead two youths in Kisumu during the peak of the post election violence.
In the statement signed by the police spokesman, Eric Kiraithe the police immediately instituted an independent inquiry following the incident that occurred mid last month.
He adds that the investigating team has completed the inquiry and submitted its findings to the police commissioner.
" Following an incident in Kisumu on the 16th of January 2008 where one George William Onyango and Ishmael Chacha, the police headquaters would like to inform the public that the investigating team has completed the inquiry and submitted its findings."
The statement further states that consequent upon these findings, the police boss has directed that police constable, Edward Kirui be charged with murder.
The police officer is expected to be arraigned in court in due course, with the police force saying it will soon make public the findings.
